Greetings, Darwinian disciples! We hope you enjoyed Phil Ferguson's presentation on breaking the cycle of religion this past Thursday. Good stuff, right? In other news, DARWIN WEEK is upon us -- an entire week celebrating the life and times of the closest thing we've got to a god, culminating in ol' Charlie's birthday this Sunday, February 12th! We've got some things planned. Read on for details... Weekly Meeting This week's meeting will take place Thursday, February 9th at 7:30pm (NOTE THE NEW TIME!) in Noyes 165 -- click here for a map. On The Agenda In keeping with the theme of the week, Dan and Rebecca talk evolution! They'll dispel common misconceptions/misinformation and tell us how evolutionary theory factors into our daily lives. ISSA at Murphy's After the meeting, we'll adjourn to Murphy's, as is our tradition. We welcome anyone and everyone who can make it, regardless of whether or not you plan to drink. It's a great chance to get to know your officers and godless cohorts better! Darwin Day on the Quad Darwin's birthday comes early! Join us this Friday, February 10th from 10am to 3pm for a little celebration on the Quad. It wouldn't be a birthday party without delicious, nerdy cake! You won't want to miss it. | | | ISSA Party (Saturday, Feb. 18th) First party of the new semester, and it's gonna be off the chain! That's an expression, right? More info to come. Stay tuned! | Bleedin' Heathens Blood Drive (Saturday, Feb. 25th) WE WANT YOUR BLOOD! No, really... Every two seconds, someone in the US requires a blood transfusion. And roughly 20% of all blood used in transfusions is taken from college age men and women just like you! Do your part to help save a life! Details to come. | | The Reason Rally Saturday, March 24th The first event of its kind, and in our nation's capital, no less! Guests will include Richard Dawkins, Adam Savage, Tim Minchin, James Randi, Bad Religion and many, many others. We'll be making the trip (how could we not?) and we'd love for you to come along! Interested? Please sign up here. | | | |
