How should we respond to street preachers?

One answer to the question posed in the title can be found in some San Franciscans' response to a visit by the Westboro Baptist Church. Do you think a similar approach would work with Brother Jed?

Via Laughing Squid's post titled, "San Francisco’s Answer to Westboro Baptist Church."

Also, for those who don't know Brother Jed.

haha. Rainbow hat = person is gay, real rainbows = God is gay. I liked that part. I think that when those kind of people come to campus there is some sort of opportunity to do something, but I'm not sure what. When Brother Jed came last time I asked him some good questions which he not so subtly avoided. I wish I remember what they were.

I suppose the best thing is to counter-protest in a mocking way. Like have big signs that read "Closeted Homophobes for Jesus" etc..,

I remember Brother Jed from my U of I years! I always felt bad for him because he obviously felt very strongly that he needed to do something to 'save' our evil campus. I didn't get the impression that he was a cruel person or that he was happy that people were supposedly going to hell. He was just severely deluded and confused by his christian dogma. I think people like this deserve our pity more than anything else.

Also, in reply to something Jed said in the video: The moon almost never rises right as the sun sets. I hate the way people just say things like this without doing any research.
